Apple the illuminated sheep

This September, a brand new visual arts trail will light up Northumberland to celebrate the arrival of the Lindisfarne Gospels in the North East inspired by the Gospels’ themes of light, sheep and pilgrimage.

A full flock of 30 life-sized illuminated sheep, created by artist Deepa Mann-Kler, will appear at a handful of key Northumberland locations.

From Berwick to Hexham and Haltwhistle to Blyth, the flock will then separate creating a number of art trails across the region. Looked after and customised by community champions, businesses and organisations, Illuminated Sheep will encourage locals and visitors to find their inner shepherd, exploring the region’s rich landscape, heritage and culture to #FindTheFlock.

As you can see from the pictures we have been busy! We appealed to our wonderful clients for a name and the most popular name was ‘Apple’, which we love! Apple then needed a home so our Finance and marketing manager Graham and his dad built a pen, laid some grass and then set up the lights. Our team then dressed Apple up to give her an Orchard House welcome!

Please feel free to pop into our garden to take photos with Apple and to scan the QR code which gives you details about this event and also information on where to find Apple’s family!
