Contagious Canine Cough (C.C.C)
Contagious Canine Cough
C.C.C for short and formally referred to as ‘kennel cough’. If we asked 10 people why they do not get the kennel cough vaccine for their dog we would be confident to say that 8/10 people would say ‘my dog doesn’t go into kennels’. Given the name, it’s actually a fair comment and possibly even more confusing that the “vaccine” was in fact a spray that goes up the nose!
The biggest reason for the name change is because C.C.C actually is a much more accurate way to describe what this is. A Cough, that is contagious, that affects dogs … makes sense right? And now it even can be given as a vaccination – so after all these years vets are finally able to explain the importance and what it is a little bit clearer.
Dogs can get Contagious Canine Cough (CCC) directly from other dogs or just from where other dogs
have been.
Even other dogs you know quite well may pass on disease to your dog without showing signs. It is
always a good idea to check with the owners of your doggy’s pals that they are also protected
against Contagious Canine Cough, as well as ensuring your own dog is protected to help keep them
healthy. Prevention is better than cure!
Think of anywhere you go with your dog where other dogs are or have been and that is potential to spread C.C.C. Our vaccines cost £35.00 (Or £28.00 if you are a Well Pet Club member) and lasts for 12 months.
