Firework awareness for Hexham, Stocksfield and Bellingham

Remember, remember your pets this October & November. Fireworks in Hexham, Stocksfield and Bellingham light up the Northumbrian skyline, but this can cause stress in our four-legged friends.

October is the time of the year when firework events begin and at Orchard House Vets we know how important it is to prepare for fireworks. It can be a very stressful time of year for both pet and owner, but we are here to help!

We always advise pet owners to think in advance about the preparations that can be put in place to protect pets from their fear of fireworks in the run up to the firework season.

It is estimated that approximately 45 percent of dogs in the UK become stressed and fearful while fireworks are going off, yet many owners are unaware of how to help their dogs with firework fears and the precautions that can be taken to help them cope with their fear of loud noises.  These may be something as simple as building a den for a dog and creating a safe haven for cats, which can be supported by using Adaptil for dogs and Feliway Optimum for cats, to reduce anxiety and help pets cope with challenging situations.
