Pet theft awareness

Pet theft is on the rise

Unfortunately, the popularity of dogs has led to a rise in dog theft, with thieves looking to cash in while demand is at an all-time high. Cat’s have sadly always been a prime target for an opportunistic thief as so few cats have a microchip and ownership dispute is much more difficult. Figures released in 2021 show an increase in rabbit theft also, and once again the lack of a microchip makes identification and ownership dispute really difficult.

We are often asked for tips so owners can avoid situations like pet thefts. We strongly recommend getting your pet a microchip so if your pet does go missing it is easier for the vet or organisation to find you. Our microchips are only £19.99 and last the lifetime of your pet.

Tips

  • If your pet does not have a microchip give us a call today to book an appointment
  • If your pet does have a microchip and you have changed your phone number, home address or would like to check the registered details on the microchip (highly recommended) please get in touch and we can arrange for you to bring your pet in for a quick check (free of charge).
